Lake Siskiyou Trout action is a morning affair

Lake Siskiyou trout fishing is best in the early morning right now.

Summer time on Lake Siskiyou is a wonderful time.  Camping season is in full swing now. What does that mean? It means there is a lot of activity going on in the campground and on the lake. What does that mean for fishing? Usually, by 1130 to noon the traffic on the water really begins to pick up. Lots of kayaking, paddlleboarders, swimming, and rental boats create a lot of surface traffic. That really just turns the fishing off.

This does not mean there is not good fishing to be had on Lake Siskiyou. You just need to start at 430 to 5 am. This will give you a good solid 5 to 8 hours of fishing depending how the bite continues once the traffic begins to show up.

My past two trips on the Lake, beginning on Fathers day held true to this scenario. The fish were active all morning, only a few real fisherman were out, after I got on the water. The bite was steady and fish were on the surface down to 30 feet. Trolling dodgers with hootchie spinners an crawlers worked best for steady action, but by 11 to 12 the bite was done. Especially on Sunday being Fathers day the traffic was heavy.

Now this is only for the rest of the summer once the kids go school lake traffic will disappear and Lake Siskiyou will fish all day long.
