Shasta Lake Trout action continues to be a hot steady eddy

Shasta Lake has been nothing short of fabulous fishery this summer. The past couple weeks brought August to close but the fishing remains a hot steady eddy.

Trolling optimizer jr spoons, and small plugs lathered in Pro Cure threadfin or anchovy gel at 2 to 3 mph between 70 and 110 feet have been my baits of choice. Bass, Brown an Rainbow Trout and the occasional King Salmon have taken my offerings. I have been targeting the Trout and fish up 5 pounds have been landed. These Trout are in great shape fighting hard and their bellies are full of shad. This makes for some great eating meat!

September on Shasta Lake has historically been a great month of fishing to finsh out the summer. School is back session now and lake traffic especially during the weekdays will light. We should also see the weather slowly begin to cool off as we head into the fall.
