Shasta Lake is kicking out beautiful Browns, Rainbows, Kokanee, Salmon and Bass. These fish fight hard and are putting some serious fish smiles on my clients faces, as well as some tasty meat on their dinner plates.
The past 10 days on Shasta Lake has been excellent fishing. My clients have caught fish between 1 and 7 pounds. The Rainbow trout have made up the bulk of the fish caught, and the biggest, tipped the scales at 4.6 pounds. Browns have been a little harder to catch, but the one's we have landed, have been between 3 and 7 pounds. Kokanee have also been around and these fiesty silver bullets have weighed 1.5 to 2 pounds. We have also caught quite few bass while trolling, many have been keeper worthy.
All of these fish are fantastic eating. Whether you bake, bbq or smoke them, you will not be disappointed. All of these fish are gorging themselves on small threadfin shad, while the Kokanee have been filling up on plankton. These fish are all hanging in similar depths and we have been catching them between 50 and 100 feet, while trolling 1 to 3 mph. Dodgers with spoons tipped with my special corn mix has been the hot set up.
Fishing has beem consistently good and will continue throughtout the summer. So let put trip together in August. I have some days available and you can checkout my website booking calendar and see what works for you.
