Blasting Casting Weekend on the Klamath
1-13-2020
Scott Caldwell
My good friend and client Kerry made his annual journey from LA to get his Steely Ducking fix this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Once again the Klamath did not disappoint. She provided many an opportunity for Ducks, Geese and Steelhead. Stealthy floating and ambushing unsuspecting waterfowl is a fine art. Sneaking and floating a 17ft driftboat down a river so you don't spook the ducks is difficult at best but it is what makes the experience a unique one in terms of traditional style duck hunting.
Needless to say it is a good time and when you mix in a few hard fighting Steelhead you get the full cast and blast experience. Back trolling 3.5 maglips was all we needed to catch an release some fun fat Steelhead. These fish have been on the bite daily and will continue all Winter.
International Sportsman Expo starts this week at the Cal Expo in Sacramento Thursday 16th through Sunday 19th. I will be in my same booth 2111 building C. Come and see me.
