Klamath River Fish Report for 11-16-2008

11-16-2008
Scott Caldwell
This past week I fished clients on the Klamath River. On Monday (Nov. 10), I took Abby, a Yreka native, and she landed over a dozen Steelhead/Trout, the biggest going about 2 plus pounds. On Saturday (Nov. 15), I fished Dave and Debra Tresch of Long Beach and they landed 20 fish, combined. Both days this week, we used a combination of glowbug flies (fished under and indicator), plugs (hotshots & crawdads) and worms to hook all our fish. I have been drifting from the Hatchery at Irongate Dam down to the Klamathon Bridge. The weather could not have been more perfect this week with morning temps in the high 30's and warming to near 70 in the afternoon. I am most happy when I can row the boat in shorts and a tee-shirt and to be able to that this time of year is awesome. This is one of the best time of the year to come fishing on the Klamath River, no crowds, excellent weather and plenty of hungry Trout and Steelhead to keep you busy. If you are looking to take a mess of Trout home for dinner McCloud Reservoir and Lake Siskiyou are excellent places to fish as well. Limiting out on a combination of Brook, Brown and Rainbow Trout is the norm. Hope to hear from you, FISH ON!!
