RECORDED:

FISHING: Good
The Salmon fishing has been good for Jacks and small adult males. Over the past five trips my clients have landed between 7 and 12 Salmon most have been 5 to 10 pounds with the occasional 17 to 18 pounder. We have been bouncing roe for all of the fish. Anyday now we are expecting the larger females and males to start arriving.

FISHING: Good
Stanly and I hit the water early today, with hopes of another 12 for 22 day, but it was not to be. Stanley manged only 6 hook-ups landing two, which is not bad, but compared to yesterday, it was a bit of a let down. More Salmon are on the way and its very early in the run. Everyday from now will bring more Salmon, as well as a more consistant bite. I have some open days, if you want to book a trip, for Salmon this October.
Days available -- 7th, 8th -- 14th thru 21st

FISHING: Excellent
My client Stanley landed 12 out of 22 Salmon today and one fat 3-pound Steelhead. The old man had the hot stick, it was steady action from 6:15 until we got off the water at 12:30. The weather is darn near perfect, cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon. Stanley will be back at it tomorrow so stay tuned!!

FISHING: Great
Slowly but surely the Salmon are starting to arrive. I landed a nice 16 pound hen yesterday while bouncing roe. I saw more Salmon jumping on my short afternoon run (12 to 3) than a couple of day ago so it wont be long before we see a lot more. The steelhead are on the bite, I landed a nice 25-inch wild Steely, and a pair of 18-inchers, all while bouncing roe, trying for Salmon. I have some days during the week as well as a few weekend days open so if you want to get in on the action give me a call.

FISHING: Great
I hit the river for a few hours in the afternoon yesterday and landed two nice Wild Steelhead (you can only keep hatchery steelhead). I didn't see any Salmon but the 4 and 5 pound Steelhead put a pair of nice battles. We should start seeing Salmon any day and the weather is perfect right now !!

FISHING: Good
The Salmon are starting to show up at the Irongate hatchery. My friend Guy and I fished the upper Klamath River from the Hatchery to the Fishhook on Saturday and we saw a few Salmon but were unable to get any biters. We did have good success at hooking and landing a couple of nice 4-pound Steelhead, while bouncing roe. The Salmon fishing will get better as more fish show up to spawn, in the next few weeks. I have openings, so call now, if you want to get in on the action. The limit is 2 adult Salmon 22-inches and over, as well one Jack Salmon under 22-inches. You need to purchase Salmon and Steelhead report cards, along with your fishing license, to fish the Klamath River.

FISHING: Great
I fished the Klamath River with my client Bruce, last week, we caught and released 20 Steelhead/Trout up to 19-inches and 2-pounds. Most of the Trout were very fat half-pounders, but on light gear or the fly rod they put up a nice battle. We caught fish while using sculpin immitations on the fly rod or bouncing a worm on the bottom, into a few of the deeper holes. The river is in prettygood shape for this time of year and flowing steady at 1000cfs. You need to go early, first light, to beat the heat. When the sun is up it is getting hot fast, 85 to 100 degrees has been the norm. The smoke from the fires has been coming and going so it is hard to tell what the days will be like. Fall Salmon and Winter Steelhead seasons on the Klamath River are quickly approaching. We should start seeing Salmon at the hatchery by the end of September and running thru October. The Winter Steelhead will be following right after them. The regulations on Salmon this season will be the same as last season, meaning we will be able to catch and keep fish. I am taking reservations, now, so get yours. Salmon season fills up fast especially the weekends. If you have the ability to fish during the weekdays I encourage it, the pressure on the river tends to be much less.

| Lake Siskiyou - April 19th, 2008 |
RECORDED:

FISHING: Excellent
This past Wednesday my good friend Guy Ives and I fished Lake Siskiyou and found the Trout bite to be very good. We caught and released 18 Trout, 16 were nice healthy Rainbows, the other two were German Browns. Most of the Trout were caught while trolling (very slow 1mph) a Seps Dodger (silver) and a worm. The other Trout (including the Browns) were caught while trolling a K-7 kwikfish on the downrigger at 15 to 20 feet. We have been using Pautzke krill paste on our dodgers and lures, this stuff works great. My last two trips to the Lake have produced over 30 trout and at least another 20 hookups. There are some trophy's on the feed, we lost a nice 5-pound German Brown, last Sunday, as we were about to net him. Unfortunately, it became another story about the one that got away.

FISHING: Poor
This past week has been one of great change. I am no longer the owner of the Miner Street Pub, my wife is due in November with our second child, I went fishing twice at Lake Siskiyou, and my body is adjusting to daytime hours again. All that said, I am looking forward to fishing and guiding more, unfortunately, Lake Siskiyou is the only fishable body of water at the moment, and it turned over this week. The downside to the Lake turning over is that the fishing is very slow, my son Conner landed one nice Trout on Wednesday and we only got one other bite after 4 hours on the water. Friday, I took some friends of mine and we hit the water earlier in the morning and fished till noon. We did not get one bite, so we pulled the boat out of the water and headed over to McCloud Reservoir. The reservoir is 50 to 75 feet below the launching ramp, if you have a big boat forget about McCloud until the water comes up. The Klamath River is currently flowing at just over 2800cfs so it needs to come down to at least 2000cfs before it will be fishable. As Siskiyou County heads into spring the fishing will improve, as the weather warms up, so stay turned.
