FISHING: Great
What a great 2 days on the river. For the last few years I have been part of a big group trip and each year I get to fish one day with Joe and Nick Rotolo (cousins). Well this year, I got to fish two days with Joe, and one day with Nick and Dean Taylor each. What a great two despite a slow start the first morning on October 4. Overall, the boys ages 12 (Dean) 13 (Joe) and 15 (Nick) kicked some serious Salmon butt. They were a combined 23 for 42 over the past two days. Joe and Nick who had to go through the slow start on Sunday morning (bad weather), finished strong with an 8 for16 talley (biggest fish a 37 inch hen). On Monday, Joe teamed with Dean for a 15 out of 26 day (biggest fish a 34 inch buck). At one point, the boys were 9 for 12, then we hit a great spot hooking 11 fish in row, unfortunately we could only land 2 of them. 11 Salmon hook ups in 30 minutes what a way to finish the day. Thanks boys for a great two days, you guys have bragging rites over your Dads till next year.

FISHING: Excellent
It was another day of firsts on the river. Not only did Nathan Weliver (age seven) land is his first 2 Salmon, it was also his first time being on a boat. It goes without saying, this was one excited 2nd grader. The highlight though was when he got to bonk his fish on the head, after that he wanted to bonk every fish on the head, it was pretty funny. Nathan had pretty good aim for such excited boy, he didnt hit my hand or arm once with the fish stick. Nathan's Dad Paul had a pretty good day as well catching his limit while putting a near 20 pound buck in the boat. I do believe the highlight of Paul's day was watching and giving that helping hand to his son while he landed his fish. The pictures pretty much say it all, Priceless!!

FISHING: Great
It was a good day for frst time salmon fisherwoman Dianna and second time salmon fisherman Kevin. Dianna and Kevin (San Jose, Ca) were novices when it came to learning the art of bouncing roe for Salmon, but by days end, both had a fair grasp of the technique, and limits of Salmon for their efforts. Dianna and Kevin went 7 for 10 but also had numerous bites, that left their hooks bare. Salmon are pretty thick and very easy to catch right now, even for a first timer. That is the great thing about fishing the Klamath river, you do not have to wait around all day to get a bite. Your day is measured by how many bites you get and how many solid hook ups you end up with. A limit of Salmon (2 adults 22 inches and over and one jack under 22 inches) is not hard to get although the small jacks are harder to come by than the adults.

September 27 2004 Guy and his son Ethan fished with me on Klamath River. Almost 5 years to the day Ethan now a junior in high school was able to go again. Guy and I have been fishing partners for over 6 years and it is amazing how fast time goes by just looking at these pictures but like 5 years ago we had an outstanding day landing 17 out of 25 Salmon. We never went longer than ten minutes without a bite. Good times once again!!!

It was a day of firsts. Stanley's wife Betty was able to go out Salmon fishing on my boat for the first time ever. She hooked and landed her first Salmon, all while learning how to bounce for the first time. It was a pretty neat experience for al involved today. I dont think you could have wiped that grin off Stanley's face if you tried!! The pictures say it all, smiles all around. How can you not be happy about landing 6 out 10 Salmon and getting bit numerous times throught the day.

FISHING: Excellent
I’d quit all my jobs if every time I made a hopeful statement it came true. Yesterday, I asked for double our numbers and half the temperature rise, for today. When I picked up Stanley this morning his wife was not feeling well and was not able to fish. I figured double the fish count was not possible. HAHA!! Not only did Stanley catch fire after a slow start, we were also blessed with half the temperature rise. It stayed rather cool on the river (high 70’s), until we were done fishing, and Stanley landed 11 out of 17 Salmon. With most activities, it’s not how you start, but how you finish, and we started 1 for 6 today, not a very good percentage. After that slow start, Stanley caught fire, and landed 9 in row before number 10 decided to let go, right as I picked up the net. The herring tree hole was the hot spot today it produced the best number of fish, by far this season. Stanley landed 7 straight Salmon and was 8 for 9 in the herring tree hole alone. Every fish today was hooked while bouncing roe and all the Salmon were hens in the 10 to 16 pound range. Stanley and hopefully his wife will be back at it tomorrow, and perhaps we can improve upon today totals.

FISHING: Great
I picked up my client Stanley Green this morning at half past dark (which is just short of dark 30). The morning temperature was around 45 degrees (shorts and tee-shirt for me); we dropped the boat in the water and drifted down to the first hole as the sun came up (6:30 am). Well, 45 degrees later (11:30 am) we had 9 Salmon hook ups, landing 8 of them, we were a perfect 7 for 7, then number 8 decided to let go just short of the net. It always amazes me how a fish will stay on the hook for 5 to 30 minutes and then just as your about to land it, he or she lets go, and of course every fish that does this always jumps out of the water and gives you the fin salute HAHA!! We had good success at in the morning on K-15 kwikfish, landing the first 3 Salmon on this plug. We had a few other hard strikes but no solids hook ups. After the plug bite turned off, we hooked on 6 more Salmon while bouncing roe along the bottom. Stanley and his wife will be on the boat tomorrow, so hopefully, we will have twice the hook ups and half the temperature rise. (70’s and no fire smoke would be nice)

Dad and I hit the river for a few hours this morning and slammed 4 out 5 Salmon. We had our K-15 kwikfish in the water for maybe 5 minutes, backtrolling down the river into the first hole, and slamola, Mr. Buck buried that rod tip in the water. After a short battle he was netted and released, what great way to start the morning. We changed over, shortly there after, to bouncing roe, and nailed 4 more Salmon, landing three of them. All the fish were nice good looking fat hens, the biggest weighing 16 pounds. These fish are frisky and fighting hard, almost like Steelhead at times, making hard runs and jumping out of the water. You know they are pretty fresh when they do that.

FISHING: Excellent
Fishing on the upper Klamath river has steadily improved this week. Earlier in the week while fishing with my Dad we hooked up on 8 Salmon landing 4 of them. We also landed one nice fat 22 inch hatchery Steelhead. Yesterday, my client Don Smith (Shasta Valley Tires in Montague) of Hornbrook, Ca and I better than doubled our numbers from earlier in the week. We boated 11 out of 15 Salmon, the biggest being a 20 pound buck. Most of the Salmon are in the 9 to 14 pound class many of which are hens. The bigger bucks generally show up after the hens. All the Salmon are being caught while bouncing role, we have tried kwikfish but they haven't gone on the plug bite yet. It is early in the season and it is great to see such good numbers of fat good looking Salmon. The meat on these fish is a nice orangy pink right now. The weather is very cool in mornings but heating up to near 100 by the afternoon so getting out early is a must. I still have a few days open next week as well as some later dates in October. It is going to be a great year on the river.

I drifted the Klamath River from the hatchery to the fishhook with my Dad today. We got on the water at 9:45am and were off the water by 1:30, in that time we managed to hook 8 Salmon landing 6. All the Salmon were hens(10 to 15 pounds) and were caught while bouncing roe. This is pretty good action for this early in the season. The Salmon are in great shape and fighting hard. I have some days open in September and few left in October so give me a call.
