Lake Siskiyou - April 19th, 2008
RECORDED:    55 °    FISHING: Excellent
This past Wednesday my good friend Guy Ives and I fished Lake Siskiyou and found the Trout bite to be very good. We caught and released 18 Trout, 16 were nice healthy Rainbows, the other two were German Browns. Most of the Trout were caught while trolling (very slow 1mph) a Seps Dodger (silver) and a worm. The other Trout (including the Browns) were caught while trolling a K-7 kwikfish on the downrigger at 15 to 20 feet. We have been using Pautzke krill paste on our dodgers and lures, this stuff works great. My last two trips to the Lake have produced over 30 trout and at least another 20 hookups. There are some trophy's on the feed, we lost a nice 5-pound German Brown, last Sunday, as we were about to net him. Unfortunately, it became another story about the one that got away.

Lake Siskiyou - April 5th, 2008
RECORDED:    55 °    FISHING: Poor
This past week has been one of great change. I am no longer the owner of the Miner Street Pub, my wife is due in November with our second child, I went fishing twice at Lake Siskiyou, and my body is adjusting to daytime hours again. All that said, I am looking forward to fishing and guiding more, unfortunately, Lake Siskiyou is the only fishable body of water at the moment, and it turned over this week. The downside to the Lake turning over is that the fishing is very slow, my son Conner landed one nice Trout on Wednesday and we only got one other bite after 4 hours on the water. Friday, I took some friends of mine and we hit the water earlier in the morning and fished till noon. We did not get one bite, so we pulled the boat out of the water and headed over to McCloud Reservoir. The reservoir is 50 to 75 feet below the launching ramp, if you have a big boat forget about McCloud until the water comes up. The Klamath River is currently flowing at just over 2800cfs so it needs to come down to at least 2000cfs before it will be fishable. As Siskiyou County heads into spring the fishing will improve, as the weather warms up, so stay turned.

Klamath River - February 3rd, 2008
RECORDED:    28 °    FISHING: Poor
Currently it is snowing heavily in and around Siskiyou County. Montague and Yreka have been pounded by storm after storm. 2008 has been all about the snow and cold weather, rather than the fishing. Hopefully, the weather will stabilize soon and we can get in some fishing.

Klamath River - October 6th, 2007
RECORDED:    50 °    FISHING: Fair
The past week of salmon fishing on the Klamath river has been fair. We have been landing 2 to 4 Salmon a day while bouncing roe. The mouth of the river has had trouble staying open, not letting fresh ocean salmon up the river. They are stacked up waiting to get in so it could bust loose anytime. Stay tuned!!!

Klamath River - September 19th, 2007
RECORDED:    75 °    FISHING: Good
Hello Everyone

Six monthes ago I purchased the Miner Street Pub in Yreka. It has put a crimp in my fishing and guiding but I am happy to say I am ready for the upcoming Salmon season on the upper Klamath River. It is just around the corner. The first Salmon was counted coming up the Shasta River today. Meaning we should have some Salmon showing up at the hatchery in the next few days. Over the last 6 or 7 years Salmon fishing has been good after about the 25th of September and continued to fish well thru mid October. This season we will be able to keep two adult salmon and one jack salmon. The run is predicted to be a very good one. If you would like to book a trip call now. My days are filling up fast and I do not have many openings left.

Lake Siskiyou - March 23rd, 2007
RECORDED:    65 °    FISHING: Good
Spring seems to have begun in Siskiyou County.  We are starting to see our annual 50 degree temperature changes (Mornings and evenings in the 30 to 40 degree range with mid-day highs of 60 to 80 degrees). The sun is out and with it comes hungry Spring Trout. Lake Siskiyou and McCloud Reservoir will producing Trout for those that get out and try. The Klamath River is unfishable at the moment due to high flows. To all who check my reports regularly, I have been busy this year working on my house and with a new business venture. I will be trying to produce more fishing reports now that the weather has gotten better. Stay tuned.

Eagle Lake-Opens Saturday May 26th be one of the first to fish for hungry Eagle Lake Rainbow Trout

Klamath River-The river is flowing near 4000cfs, it needs to be around 2000 cfs to even think about fishing it

Lake Siskiyou-Trolling bait or flies should produce Trout go slow water will be very cold

McCloud Reservoir-Trolling (troll slow) should bring an easy limit for Trout, try out near the dam

Medicine Lake-Closed due to snow

Klamath River - February 24th, 2007
RECORDED:    30 °    FISHING: Poor
Northern California has been hit hard the last week by snow, wind and rain. Yreka and Montague both have been hit hard by heavy snow. The Klamath River is now unfishable due to rising water flow (2760cfs). Most of the area lake will be unfishable due to snow, the lone exception would be Lake Siskiyou. As long as the wind is not blowing it will be fishable. The entrance and launch ramp are regularly plowed. Four wheel drive is a must. Lake Shasta will be be fishable as long as the wind is not blowing as well. The coastal rivers (Chetco, Smith) were fishing as of a few days ago but the water flow was rising, and getting close to unfishable. Stay tuned and stay warm.

Klamath River - February 21st, 2007
RECORDED:    60 °    FISHING: Fair
Last Saturday, I fished clients on the Klamath River and found the Steelhead fishing to be slow. The quality of the steelhead was good, Ryan Covington landed one 25-inch 6 pound buck and Chad (Dad) landed one 18-inch 2 pound buck. The flow of the river was good (1330cfs)  but very cold (41 degrees) though there are fish to be caught, you just have to hit them on the head. As of Sunday, the weather has changed as well as the flow of the river. It is now raining with a chance of snow. The flow of the river was bumped up to nearly 1800cfs on Sunday causing a lot of debree from the bank to make its way down river. Guy Ives of Sis-Q Guide Service was out on Sunday and found it impossible to run plugs. Bait on the bottom fished very slow is your best bet right now.

Klamath River - January 16th, 2007
RECORDED:    32 °    FISHING: Great
Conner and I fished the Klamath River (Hatchery to the Fishhook) yesterday and caught two nice Steelhead (click on the picture link below). We fished for two hours in the afternoon (2 to 4) during the warmest part of the day and landed a  5 pound hatchery Buck and a Native 2 pounder. Conner with some help from Dad landed both fish while bouncing a worm and orange corky on the bottom. The weather has been extremely cold and today it is snowing so we have been trying to fish in between storms.
